FAQ for: Merchants Consumers Banks Non-Profits

How do I know if my card will work with DebitDeals

If you click on the "Is my card eligible" link on this site you will be asked to enter the first 6 digits (leftmost) of your debit card. The system will tell you whether your bank or credit union is participating in DebitDeals.

What if my bank or credit union is not participating

You can contact your bank or credit union to see if they plan to participate with DebitDeals. If they do not, you may want to consider changing financial institutions. All iCareCards issued by Cedar Rapids Bank and Trust participate in DebitDeals. Cards can be ordered at http://www.icarecard.org/. You can use these cards without changing your bank or credit union.

Can I use my credit card instead of a debit card

No, the fees that merchants must pay to accept credit cards are too high to be eligible for DebitDeals give backs.

How much of each give back do I get

65% of all give backs go to the cardholder and charity. When your financial institution sets up the program with DebitDeals, the program is set to contribute 10% of each give back to a local charity or non-profit of their choice, and 55% of each give back goes to the cardholder.

Can I change where the charitable contribution goes

Yes, just click on the "Log In" link and you can change where your contribution goes, and what percentage of each give back you want to direct to that organization. If the organization is not listed on our site please contact them so they can register.

How do I know how much my give backs are

You can click on the "Log In" link on this website to see how much you have accumulated. You will need to enter the last 4 digits of your card number.

How will I know when new merchants offer a give back

When you register your card you will have an opportunity to enter your email address and your zip code. As new give backs are available in your area DebitDeals will notify you.

What do we have to install to participate

You will probably want to install a link to this website, although it is not required. In addition, we will provide you with a small program to install that will filter each day's debit card transactions. No other installation is required, you will simply transmit your debit card transactions to DebitDeals on a daily basis.

Is DebitDeals costly

No, there is a minimal license fee and a small annual renewal. Your monetary return on investment will be very short, and in addition will provide many benefits to your cardholders and merchants, ultimately benefitting your organization.

If you are not on the DebitDeals list please fill out the Contact Us form and submit it. Please include proof that you are registered as a 501c3 organization. We also require information regarding your plans for notifying your constituents about DebitDeals.

Can we promote DebitDeals to our constituents

Certainly, and you should. If your strong supporters use their cards for give backs it can increase your revenue substantially. You can also promote DebitDeals to banks, credit unions, and merchants.
